What is The Family Law Act 1975?
The Family Act 1975 is the primary law on matters involving child care, divorce, property settlement succeeding marriage or de-facto relationship breakdown, de-facto partner maintenance for a party to de-facto relationship breakdown issues relating to parenting arrangements after separation. It is an Act relating to marriage, divorce, matrimonial causes, parenting responsibility, and financial matters arising from relationship breakdowns. The Courts that exercise jurisdiction under this Act are Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court.
